In the year she turned 6, she won an event using an old-fashioned board she discovered in the rubbish outside her house. The first time she started surfing was when she was 5 and at 6 had won her first prize. At age seven, she was a sponsor. She was born in San Clemente California and later transferred to Hawaii.
